2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Muscle Truck Preview
Every few years somebody in Detroit remembers truck buyers actually like fun. The 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee is the outcome from one of those moments.
For years the truck market has been chasing off-road performance. Bigger shocks. More ground clearance. Wider fenders. Baja this. Desert runner that. Meanwhile a lot of truck guys kept asking the same question:
“What happened to street trucks?”
Ram finally stepped up to answer that.
The Rumble Bee lineup takes the current Ram 1500 platform and goes in a completely different direction than TRX or RHO. Instead of building another high-speed dirt truck, Ram shortened the wheelbase, widened the stance, lowered the ride height and stuffed it full of HEMI engines ranging from the return of the 5.7-liter V8 all the way up to a 777-horsepower supercharged Hellcat-powered SRT model.
And honestly, this thing sounds gloriously over-done in the best possible way.
Rear-wheel-drive mode. Launch control. Paddle shifters. Functional aero. Optional spool differential for burnouts. A factory truck with a targeted 170 mph top speed. Ram basically looked at modern truck trends and decided somebody needed to bring back muscle trucks.
This is not a TRX replacement.
That's important because a lot of people are going to confuse the two. The Rumble Bee is lower, shorter, wider and built around street performance instead of off-road capability. Think modern SRT-10 attitude mixed with current technology.
The other thing that makes this truck interesting is how blunt the executives at Ram seems to be about it. They openly describe the truck as emotional, aggressive and unnecessary. Frankly, that feels refreshing after years of corporate press releases pretending every vehicle is designed exclusively for efficiency and mindfulness.
Many truck buyers around Chicago still remember the original Ram SRT-10 trucks and the first Rumble Bee editions. We still see people talking about them. And, once in a while we're blessed to find a clean one still driving around. Ram clearly knows that nostalgia still matters, but they also know nostalgia alone is not enough.
That is why the technical side of the new Rumble Bee really stands out. Ram did not just throw stickers and a hood scoop onto a regular truck and call it a day. The engineering changes on these trucks are extensive, especially once you get into the 392 Track Pack and SRT models. Yes, you read that "track pack" on a page about trucks correctly.
Below, we are going deep into all of it. The engines. The suspension. The shortened frame. The aero. The driveline setup. The differences between each version and why this thing may end up becoming one of the most talked-about Ram trucks in years.
One of the things we like most about the Rumble Bee lineup is that Ram did not build this exclusively for the guys chasing dyno sheets and drag strip times.
Sure, the 777-horsepower SRT version is completely insane and we fully support that kind of bad decision-making. But Ram also remembered that a lot of truck buyers want the widebody look, the sound, the stance and the attitude without needing a 170 mph pickup as their daily driver.
The fact that this lineup starts with the 5.7-liter HEMI and works its way up through the 392 and Hellcat models makes the whole thing feel much more usable in the real world. Some people want the wildest truck Ram has ever built. Others just want a street truck that still feels like a truck and sounds right when they start it in the morning.

Does the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee 5.7L HEMI have rear-wheel-drive mode?
Yes. Every Rumble Bee includes full-time active four-wheel drive and a button next to the console shifter that disconnects the front axle for rear-wheel-drive-only operation.
The 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee uses the 345 cubic inch, 5.7-liter HEMI V8. Output is rated at 395 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 410 lb-ft of torque at 3,950 rpm.

- Short runner valve: Included
- Multi-displacement System: Included
- eTorque: Not included
- Stop/start technology: Not included
The 5.7-liter HEMI uses variable valve timing operated through an oil control valve. The system lubricates a unique camshaft sprocket and phasing device to adjust camshaft timing.
The aluminum cylinder heads use two valves per cylinder. Intake airflow is managed through an active intake manifold with a short runner valve. At lower engine speeds, the valve closes to use the longer runners and improve low-end torque. At higher engine speeds, the valve opens and redirects incoming air into the center of the manifold through shorter runners to improve horsepower and widen the usable powerband.
The Multi-displacement System reduces pumping losses on cylinders 4, 3, 5 and 2 during light-load driving.
