Those are Jeep’s internal generation names. What does Rubicon mean on a Jeep Wrangler?
Rubicon is the most trail focused Wrangler trim level. It adds locking differentials, heavier duty axles, and extra off road capability straight from the factory. The name comes from the famous Rubicon Trail in California, one of the most legendary off road trails in North America.
What does JLU or JKU mean?
That is Jeep shorthand for a four door Wrangler Unlimited. JKU refers to the four door version of the JK generation. JLU refers to the four door version of the current JL generation. Jeep people like abbreviations almost as much as they like trail rides.
Is a Jeep Wrangler a good vehicle for daily driving?
Absolutely. Modern Wranglers like the JL generation are far more comfortable and refined than earlier models. They still keep the removable doors, open air driving, and trail capability that made them famous. Plenty of Wrangler owners use them every day and still head off road on the weekend.
