What’s New for the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
If you’ve been around Grand Cherokees for a while, you know Jeep usually updates them a piece at a time.
2026 is one of the years where they changed more than the tail lights. Still not a full redesign, but enough updates that it is worth a look.
And before people start wondering if Jeep turned it into something else, no, they didn’t.
It is still a Grand Cherokee.
Still the same midsize SUV people know. Still available as a 2-row or 3-row. Still built to handle daily driving, road trips, Illinois winters, and everything in between.
What changed for 2026 depends a lot on trim. If you want a breakdown of how each trim is equipped, take a look at our 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee buyer’s guide.

Ready to take a closer look at the 2026 Grand Cherokee?
Whether you are staying with a Laredo or stepping up into a Limited or Summit, you can see what is available right now and compare them side by side.
The 2026 Lineup Splits in Two
The Laredo and Laredo X still carry over a lot of last year’s setup. That means the 3.6L V6 and the smaller 8.4-inch touchscreen are still standard here.
Once you move into the Laredo Altitude, that is where the newer 2026 version starts showing up. That includes the updated engine, larger screen, and more of the newer tech features.
Simple way to think about it:
- Laredo and Laredo X feel closer to last year
- Laredo Altitude and up feel like the updated 2026 version
Engine Changes Start Above Laredo and Laredo X
One of the biggest changes for 2026 is the move to the new 2.0L Hurricane turbo engine.
But it does not show up everywhere.
The Laredo and Laredo X still use the 3.6L V6. That is the only engine option on those trims.
Once you step into the Laredo Altitude and into trims like the Limited and higher, that is where the Hurricane engine comes in.
Screen and Interior Tech
Same story inside.
The standard Laredo keeps the 8.4-inch touchscreen.
The Laredo Altitude and trims like the Limited move up to the 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation and the newer Uconnect system.
As you move up the lineup, you will also see more features like wireless charging, upgraded driver assist systems, and additional connected tech.
Exterior Updates
Jeep updated the front end for 2026.
- Revised grille
- Updated lower front fascia
- Refreshed headlamp design
It still looks like a Grand Cherokee. It just looks a little cleaner and more modern, especially once you get into trims like the Summit.
Overland Is Gone
This is one of the biggest changes for 2026.
The Overland trim is no longer part of the standard Grand Cherokee lineup.
If you have shopped these before, that is a trim a lot of people recognize. Its removal changes how the middle of the lineup is structured.
Limited Gets New Options
With Overland gone, Jeep puts more focus on the Limited trim.
For 2026, you now have additional upgrade paths like Limited Reserve and the 85th Anniversary Edition.
These packages stack more features on top of Limited, giving buyers another step before jumping all the way to the Summit.
What Actually Changed for 2026
Here is the short version.
